The Israel Independence: the resurrection of a people

On 26^th of April 2012, the Israeli people will once again mark with joy and serenity its political independence on its regained land, Eretz Yisrael. Certainly 64 years have passed since the Declaration of Independence but David Ben Gurion’s words, the emblematic figure of the Jewish state, still continue to thrill the soul of Israel: «We… hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz Israel, to be known as the state of Israel ».

The independence of a Jewish, Zionist and democratic state is not obvious at no time in history admitted by all. Indeed, this scorched earth by incessant wars, torn by the hegemony of prestigious and powerful civilizations, has never stopped pining for his lost sons. We ought this independence only due to the firm and sincere commitment of enthusiastic pioneers who, responding to the land of Israel’s call and to the voice of their historical consciousness, dedicate their lives for the sake of Israel and his resurrection. They make of a barren desert, a garden of Eden, fulfilling thus the ancient and noble prophetic promise: « And they shall say: This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited » (Ezekiel 36, 35). Tears of hope mixed with the blood of the fallen soldiers on the battlefield and of the victims of deadly terrorist attacks led to the rebirth of the Jewish nation in Eretz Israel, despite the skepticism prevailing among most of the nations consider the realization of the Abrahamic promise, utopic. This is not counting on David ben Gurion, the tireless architect of the Zionist work in motion, faithful to the national heritage of Israel and sensitive to the universal message of biblical ethics. He declared, against all odds, the political independence of the State of Israel. After 2000 years of dispersion and humiliation among the Nations, the Sons of Israel return to their land, to the Bible language, to their spiritual and national identity.

In France, Clermont-Tonnerre, Mirabeau and Robespierre, French revolutionaries, apostles of Human Rights and advocates of the Jewish Emancipation assert: «one must refuse everything to the Jews as a nation and give them all as individuals ». The idea of ​​these revolutionaries, at the time a new idea in Europe, will be disavowed by history. As a proof, the Dreyfus Affair, the Vichy government, especially its racial laws and the tragic and bloody shoah in which six million perished of our Jewish brethren throughout the European continent.

Robert Badinter wrote: «the revolutionary project of the emancipation was good to get rid of the Jew in Man» David Ben Gurion and the historical signatories of the Declaration of Independence reverse the course of history: the historical urgency of reinstating political independence aims at the reintegration of the Jewish soul in man. In other words, the historical and spiritual identity of Israel doomed to sure extinction in the Diaspora. In Israel, it is rising from its ashes like the risen phoenix.

Yet the fire of hatred against Israel has still not extinguished. Yet there are still many people, anti-Zionist and anti-Semites of all countries, which deny outright the existence and the Jewish and democratic character of the state of Israel, aim to end the miracle of the resurrection of a country and a people animated by peaceful aspirations. Indeed, despite the recognition in 1949 of its natural and historic right to existence, by the United Nations, on the basis of the Balfour Declaration granting a national home for Jews, Israel is still and always fighting for its survival. For evidence, the Iranian threat of a Nuclear Shoah directed against Israel.

The Jews of Israel together with the Jews in the Diaspora reiterate our fidelity to the Jewish and democratic values of the​​ state of Israel and pledge our allegiance to the fundamental principles legitimizing its existence.

We, the friends of Israel from all over the world, express our support for the democratic values of Israel: «It (the state Israel) will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and il will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations».

On this solemn day, we want to issue the earnest hope that this return to the Promised Land of Israel, « a brand plucked out of the fire » (Zechariah 3, 2) will become a blessing for the families of the earth and that the dove of Shalom, Peace, will reappear in our homes and in our hearts.

L’Indépendance d’Israël: la résurrection d’un peuple

 Le 26 avril 2012, le peuple d’Israël marquera une fois de plus avec une joie empreinte de sérénité son indépendance politique sur sa terre retrouvée, Erets Israël. 64 années se sont, certes, écoulées depuis la Déclaration de l’Indépendance mais les paroles de David ben Gourion, figure emblématique de l’état hébreu, continuent et continueront à faire vibrer l’âme d’Israël: «Nous déclarons par la présente la constitution d’un état juif en Erets-Israël, [qui sera] l’état d’Israël».

L’indépendance d’un état juif, sioniste et démocratique n’est à aucun moment une évidence de l’histoire admise par tous. En effet, cette terre brûlée par les guerres incessantes, déchirée par l’hégémonie de prestigieuses et puissantes civilisations, n’a jamais cessé de se languir de ses Fils perdus. Cette indépendance, nous ne la devons qu’à la ferme et sincère volonté d’enthousiastes pionniers qui, répondant présents à l’appel de la terre d’Israël et à la voix de leur conscience historique, vouent leur vie pour l’amour d’Israël et sa résurrection. Ils font du désert stérile un jardin d’Eden, accomplissant, ainsi, l’antique et noble promesse prophétique: «Et l’on dira: Voyez-vous, cette terre dévastée est devenue comme le jardin d’Eden, et ces villes ruinées, dépeuplées, écroulées, les voilà fortifiées et habitées!» (Ezéchiel 36, 35). Les larmes de leur espoir mêlées aux sangs des soldats tombés au champ d’honneur et des victimes d’attentats meurtriers ont permis la renaissance de la nation juive en Erets Israël et ce, en dépit du scepticisme majoritaire régnant parmi les nations jugeant la réalisation de la promesse abrahamique utopique.

C’est sans compter sur David ben Gourion, inlassable ouvrier de l’œuvre sioniste en marche, fidèle au patrimoine national d’Israël et sensible au message universel de l’éthique biblique. Il déclare, envers et contre tous, l’indépendance politique de l’Etat d’Israël. Après 2000 ans de dispersion et d’humiliation parmi les Nations, les Fils d’Israël retrouvent leur terre, la langue de la Bible, leur identité nationale et spirituelle.

En France, Clermont-Tonnerre, Robespierre et Mirabeau, révolutionnaires français, apôtres des Droits de l’Homme et de l’émancipation des Juifs prônent «de tout refuser aux Juifs comme Nation et de tout leur accorder comme individus». L’idée de ces révolutionnaires, alors une première en Europe, sera désavouée par l’histoire. Pour preuve, l’Affaire Dreyfus, le gouvernement de Vichy, ses lois raciales et surtout la tragique et sanglante shoah où périrent six millions de nos frères juifs à travers tout le continent européen. Robert Badinter écrit: «le projet révolutionnaire de l’émancipation était bien de faire disparaître le Juif dans l’Homme». David ben Gourion et les signataires historiques de la Déclaration d’Indépendance inversent le cours de l’histoire: l’urgence historique de réinstaurer l’indépendance politique vise à la réintégration de l’âme juive dans l’Homme. En d’autres termes, l’identité historique et spirituelle d’Israël vouée à l’extinction certaine en Diaspora, en Israël renaît de ses cendres, tel le phénix ressuscité.

Pourtant, le feu de la haine à l’encontre d’Israël ne s’est toujours pas éteint. Encore nombreux sont ceux, antisionistes et antisémites de tous pays, qui niant purement et simplement l’existence et le caractère juif et démocratique de l’état d’Israël visent à  mettre un terme au miracle de la résurrection d’un pays et d’un peuple animé d’aspirations pacifiques. En effet, malgré la reconnaissance en 1949 de son droit à l’existence naturel et historique, par l’Organisation des Nations Unies, sur la base de la Déclaration Balfour octroyant un foyer national aux Juifs, Israël doit encore et toujours lutter pour sa survie. Pour preuve: la menace iranienne d’une Shoah nucléaire  dirigée vers Israël.

Nous, Juifs d’Israël et de Diaspora, réitérons, à l’occasion de ce 64e anniversaire,  notre fidélité aux valeurs juives et démocratiques de l’état Israël et soutenons les principes fondamentaux légitimant son existence et Nous amis d’Israël du monde entier déclarons notre soutien aux valeurs démocratiques de l’état Israël :

«Il (l’état d’Israël) sera fondé sur les principes de liberté, de justice et de  paix enseignés par les prophètes d’Israël; il assurera une complète égalité de droits sociaux et politiques à tous ses citoyens, sans distinction de croyance, de race ou de sexe; il garantira la pleine liberté de conscience, de culte, d’éducation et de culture; il assurera la sauvegarde et l’inviolabilité des Lieux saints et des sanctuaires de toutes les religions et respectera les principes de la Charte des Nations unies».

En ce jour solennel, nous  voulons émettre le vif espoir que ce retour en terre promise du peuple d’Israël, «tison tiré du feu» (Zach. 3, 2) devienne une bénédiction pour les familles de la terre et que la colombe du Shalom, de la Paix, réapparaisse en nos demeures et en nos cœurs.

עצמאות מדינת ישראל: תחייתו של עם

 

בתאריך ה’ באייר, יציין עם ישראל, כבכל שנה, את עצמאותו המדינית. 64 שנים חלפו מאז הכרזת העצמאות ודבריו המרגשים של דוד בן גוריון עדיין מרטיטים את ליבנו: « אנו מכריזים בזאת על הקמת מדינת ישראל בארץ ישראל ».

השגת עצמאותה של מדינה יהודית, ציונית ודמוקרטית מלווה הייתה בחבלי לידה קשים. אדמה זו נחרכה במלחמות בלתי פוסקות ונכבשה בידי תרבויות רבות עוצמה. עם זאת כמיהתה לבניה האבודים לא פסקה מעולם. עצמאות זו, עליה חלמו דורות רבים במשך יותר מאלפיים שנה, התממשה בזכות חוזים וחלוצים נלהבים ונחושים. בעקבות קריאתה של הארץ, אליה כמהו שנים רבות, הם הקריבו את חייהם למען חיבת הארץ ותחייתה. צו השעה וצו מצפונם קראו להם לקום ולפעול והם הפכו את המדבר הצחיח לגן עדן. אצילותם וחזונם שימשו להם להגשמת ההבטחה הנבואית עתיקת היומין: «וְאָמְרוּ, הָאָרֶץ הַלֵּזוּ הַנְּשַׁמָּה, הָיְתָה, כְּגַן-עֵדֶן; וְהֶעָרִים הֶחֳרֵבוֹת וְהַנְשַׁמּוֹת וְהַנֶּהֱרָסוֹת, בְּצוּרוֹת יָשָׁבוּ» (יחזקאל לו, 35).

דמעות התקווה שנמהלו בדם הנופלים בשדה הקרב וקורבנות האיבה, היוו אות מבשר לקוממיות האומה בארץ ישראל. קוממיות זו התגשמה על אף התנגדותן וספקנותן של רבות ממדינות העולם. האוטופיה של איחוד עם ישראל בארצו, הייתה למציאות.

כנגד התנגדות האומות, פועל דוד בן גוריון ללא לאות. הוא מקדם את המפעל הציוני בארץ, שומר נאמנות למורשתו הלאומית של העם ושואף את השראתו לשלום אוניברסאלי במוסר המקראי. למרות האיום הקיומי והלחץ הבינלאומי הוא מכריז על עצמאותה של מדינת ישראל. לאחר אלפיים שנות פזורה והשפלה שבים בני ישראל לארצם, לשפת התנ »ך ולזהותם המקורית, הלאומית והרוחנית.

המהפכנים הצרפתיים, קלרמון-טונר, מיראבו ורובספייר, שפעלו לקידום זכויות האדם וגם דאגו לאמנסיפצית היהודים, הכריזו: « אין להעניק דבר ליהודים כאומה, אך יש לתת הכל ליהודים כאזרחים ». חזון זה שמטרתו הייתה לשלב את היהודים בחברה היה תקדים שהתפשט בכל יבשת אירופה, אך לא עמד במבחן המציאות. ראייה לכך בפרשת דרייפוס, ממשלת וישי, חוקי הגזע והשואה הטרגית של שש מיליון היהודים. המשפטן הצרפתי רוברט בדינטר כותב ש »התכנית המהפכנית של האמניסיפציה נועדה להעלים את היהודי שבאדם ». דוד בן גוריון יחד עם שאר חותמי מגילת העצמאות משנים את מהלך ההיסטוריה היהודית. דחיפות השעה לחידוש עצמאות מדינית בארץ ישראל ולמימוש הייעוד ההיסטורי של האומה עמדו לנגד עיניהם,  ובכך החזירו מחדש את הנשמה היהודית שבאדם.

עם זאת, אש השנאה כלפי ישראל עדיין לא כבתה. רבים האנטי ציונים והאנטישמים מכל רחבי העולם הממשיכים להכחיש את קיומה ואת אופייה של המדינה היהודית הדמוקרטית היחידה באזור המזרח התיכון. על אף הכרת זכותה הטבעית וההיסטורית של מדינת ישראל לקיום בידי האו »ם בשנת 1949 על בסיס הצהרת בלפור, לפיה יזכו היהודים לבית לאומי בארץ ישראל, ישראל נאלצת עדיין להילחם על קיומה. האיום האיראני הגרעיני המוטל על מדינת ישראל מהווה הוכחה לכך.

במלאת 64 שנים להקמת המדינה, אנחנו יהודי ישראל והתפוצות, מצהירים בזאת את נאמנותנו לערכי היהדות והדמוקרטיה עליהם מושתתת מדינתנו. אנו נשבעים אמונים לעקרונות היסוד של מייסדי המדינה שהמשיכו והגשימו את חזונו של בנימין זאב תאודור הרצל, חוזה המדינה.
אנחנו ידידי מדינת ישראל תומכים במדינת ישראל הדמוקרטית והחופשית. כולנו מתאחדים היום תחת הכתוב במגילת העצמאות:

« מדינת ישראל תהא… מושתתה על יסודות החירות, הצדק והשלום לאור חזונם של נביאי ישראל; תקיים שיוויון זכויות חברתי ומדיני גמור לכל אזרחיה בלי הבדל דת, גזע ומין; תבטיח חופש דת, מצפון, לשון, חינוך ותרבות; תשמור על המקומות הקדושים של כל הדתות ותהיה נאמנה לעקרונותיה של מגילת האומות המאוחדות ».

כעוף החול הקם מאפרו כך גם הזהות ההיסטורית והרוחנית של ישראל קמה מתוך אפר החורבן. ביום חגיגי זה אנו תקווה ששיבת ציון של עם ישראל « אוד מוצל מאש » (זכריה, ב’, ג’) תהפוך לברכה  לכל משפחות האדמה. עינינו מופנות אל היונה, אותה היונה שתבשר שלום לעם ישראל ולעולם כולו.
